I learned this bread from Book, my Atkins Diet Drill Sergeant about 4 years ago. It is perhaps more English Muffin than bread or bun tasting, but it is good tasting. It’s tastes like a course ground wheat muffin, perfect for a sausage or egg. Book’s Flax Bread: 1 TBS Butter 1 Large Egg 2 TBS Flax Meal (Golden Flax if possible) 1/2 tsp Baking Powder Soften butter. Mix all ingredients together. Microwave for 2 minutes. Makes 2 Servings. BTW make sure you stay tuned this week… I have another recipe video coming that while slightly more work and longer to make. It is much closer in bread flavor (less English muffin-y) than this one.

Is flax a flavour you have to get used to? It has such a strong smell

  4. bowulf Says:

You might have a stomach ache if you add 2 TBS of flax right out of the gate, but all ingredients are Induction legal. Note: DANDR says you are allowed 1-2 TBS of flax for regularity sake, so with the caution about the heavy fiber dose, you should be fine with this.

this sounds good but you said 1-4 servings, I think I would of used the whole thing and put a patty in it with and cheese and had a burger would this have been bad for induction??

    Great!!
I made a larger batch and baked them in Texas Muffin pans. I made like a roll. They are a little small in diameter but was still good.

The real question is how have you been? :-)

Thinned the mixture with a little half n half, added some splenda and made a waffle. Came out great. 2 extra carbs for the half n half. I topped it with my own LC strawberry topping.

    thank you!
I am going to try the EggMcBowolfw/bacon & cheese Muffin in the morning for breakfast …..cannot wait!

  11. bowulf Says:

Remember it is 2 servings, and I sometimes only have even a half of that. It is a lot of fiber to have at one time, so yes, I can definitely see where you might get a little stomach problems if you are unused to it.

oh wow that looks really great, but does it have any carbs? I know that flax is mostly fiber. So I guess my question is how many carbs for that servering?
    Thanks

Has anyone experienced any gastric upset with this recipe? I love it but maybe it was too much fiber at once for me. Am going to try to build up my flaxmeal intake slowly to adjust. A very good bread, Bowulf – thank you!

Awesome! You dont have to be low carbing it to enjoy this.
