Soft drinks suck for three main reasons: 1) Phosphoric Acid, which has a pH of just over 2, 2) Diet sodas have aspartame (Nutrasweet), which metabolizes into Vitamin C (not bad), methyl alcohol (causes retinal damage, blindness, and other nerve damage), and formaldehyde (which preserves animal specimens, but also causes cancer), 3) Corn Syrup (which causes inflammation and, oddly, low blood sugar). Soft drinks suck.

Soft drinks suck because they are not a nutrient rich whole food. Now on the other hand, 70′s does NOT suck!

Read some of the …
Read some of the other comments in the comments section of this and Part 1, where another guy posts about how the benzoate in certain soft drinks actually reacts with the vitamin C in aspartame, to create benzene, which is highly carcinogenic.

Oh, okay. Well, …
Oh, okay. Well, someone else in here posted that when sodium benzoate is used as a preservative in a number of these sodas (such as Mountain Dew, I believe), that the benzoate half (which is the de-acidified portion of benzoic acid) combines with vitamin C to create pure benzene… and benzene is insanely, horrendously carcinogenic.

Yeah, I’ve been …
Yeah, I’ve been reading about how the genetically-modified crops actually can’t be broken down properly by the human digestive system OR reasonable cooking temperatures.
…In fact, there’s a video here on YouTube from a documentary on GMO soy and, apparently, it doesn’t get broken down until 200 degrees Celsius or something, which is insane…especially when you consider that water boils at 100 degrees Celsius.
Hopefully I’ve got the Celsius part right.

Sodas low pH is a …
Sodas low pH is a problem if you are do not absorb calcium. You require calcium to reduce stomach or soda acid. Generally, your stomach will not produce any more acid then it can reduce. Activated pepsin will digest the small intestine, the pH needs to go up above 4 to swich off the digestive stomach enzymes.

Well, that’s …
Well, that’s something interesting.
It turns out that the statin drugs operate on the premise that it’s immune cells which lay down the fatty deposits that clog arteries, and so statin drugs suppress immune function to lower cholesterol plaques.
But guess what? One of the jobs of the immune system is to kill off cancer cells that pop up. So if you suppress it, cancer can develop much more easily.

Well, juice is …
Well, juice is probably a lot better, but, still, sugar is sugar. However… it’s a sight better than soda.
I would say it might be best to dilute the juice somewhat, just so the overall sugar intake isn’t so high. Also, lemon juice in water is amazingly good for you… the citric acid is a powerful anti-microbial and anti-calcification agent, so it might prevent hardening of the arteries and premature aging.
And, also, for a sweetener, look into agave syrup…

Very good. Although I do not drink soft drinks, I find lemonade works great if you feel sick. I think the carbonated liquid fizzes all the gunk from the stomach. If I have a hangover (hardly ever), I drink a pint of lemonade. Of course it doesn’t have to be lemonade, I’m sure carbonated water is just as effective.
