There are several diets out there, but I can't keep track of which is the healthiest. My brother is doing the Atkins friendly-low carb diet and I am terribly worried about him. His diet includes high calorie and high fat foods and he has little physical fitness. Is this low carb diet actually healthy?

Do you have any suggestions I can give him?
Or maybe I am wrong and the Atkins diet is healthy, please let me know what you think.

Thanks!

The healthiest diet to follow is one with lean meats (not high fat) plenty of vegetables and lean meats. Atkins is actually really good at giving you a heart attack and most doctors won't recommend it. Carbohydrates give your body necessary fuel. Fats are also necessary, but the healthiest places to find them are in olive oil and fish oils. Fatty ground beef, for example, is not the healthiest meat choice you could make. Get a good variety of lots of healthy, non-processed foods in your diet to make sure you're getting all of the nutrients necessary for life.

Anywhere from 1800-2000 calories a day is healthiest for women, around 2000 a day is healthiest for men. Regular exercise is a must.

http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com/blog blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine hear from a lot of people who express their concerns about why they’re not losing weight. They identify 7 reasons why you may not be losing weight in the latest installment of their popular “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb on YouTube” series.

In Episode 74, Jimmy and Christine touch on a few of the most common explanations for stalled weight loss or even weight gain. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but may include the reason you could be struggling with a seeming lack of progress on your healthy low-carb lifestyle.

7 REASONS WHY YOU MAY NOT BE LOSING WEIGHT
1. Too many carbs
2. Too few calories
3. Muscle growth
4. Too much protein
5. Medications
6. Too much exercise
7. Stress

Keep in mind that your body is constantly adjusting to any new changes you make in your diet and exercise routine, so your individual response to these changes will vary from what others experience. DON’T compare yourself to the progress you see other people are having and ALWAYS remember that livin’ la vida low-carb is about a permanent lifetime way of eating, not just some fad diet you’re on for a short period of time. Wrap your head around that concept and it will serve you well in your low-carb life.

http://LivinLaVidaLowCarb.com/blog blogger Jimmy Moore and his wife Christine wanted to share just a few of the REAL FOODS you should be eating and enjoying as part of your low-carb lifestyle in the latest installment of their popular “Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb on YouTube” series.

In Episode 75, Jimmy and Christine show you how to enhance the quality of your low-carb menus by including fresh locally-grown produce as well as locally-raised Vitamin D-rich eggs from a farmer’s market http://www.localharvest.org , some local omega-3 fatty acid-filled grass-fed beef http://www.eatwild.org , and local raw milk that has not been homogenized or pasteurized http://www.realmilk.org . Most of what you get from your local grocery store or supermarket is mass produced, highly manufactured, from cooped up animals, and grain-fed. EWWWW! Yes, these higher quality foods may be a little more costly now, but the dividends to your health make them so worth it! And YOUR HEALTH is worth the added expense, right?

My husband and I are working on a low carb lifestyle, but we are looking for substitutes for pasta and rice in our diet. Does anyone have any ideas?
We are trying to not eat a ton of carbs, we have always used brown rice and wheat pasta, but we are looking for low/no carb substitutes.

Cous cous, quinoa
